Why do they use Celsius?

Ok, we’re back. The satellite connection that we use Wi-Fi on crashed last night and they told us we couldn’t get it back until we reached Vienne on Saturday, anyway onto the blog...

Yesterday we were in Avignon, France. We have pretty much the same morning routine, got up, but not early enough for breakfast again. The weather in Avignon yesterday was gorgeous. Don’t ask me what the temperature here was because when you ask someone that around here, they tell you it’s 22 degrees Celsius which has no meaning to me. They don’t use Fahrenheit like us normal folk! If we had to guess I would say it was 73 degrees and Sunny. That’s the terminology we are accustomed to. Anyway, we went to lunch, which once again was amazing. Its really not your normal lunches around here.

After lunch it was time for our afternoon excursion. We chose to tour the villages of Roussillon and Gordes. Now we really can’t tell you anything about these two villages because our tour guide ditched the group and let us go on our own. The landscape was breathtaking and the villages themselves were quite quaint. We took some amazing pictures (hopefully one day we will be able to upload) that will blow you away. We do know the village of Roussillon is very exclusive therefore making it very difficult to buy a house there. The village was really a sight to see and hopefully our pictures will do it justice. While we were in Roussillon, Kim took her first opportunity to use the ATM machine for the first time since we’ve been here. She actually had to ask someone how to use it at which the gentlemen replied “you just stick your card in and follow the directions”, duh! I’m glad to see she’s following the idiocy theme. We went into another pharmacie there, still looking for a straightener, but you will be glad to know Kim did not use her hand gesture or even talk to the lady behind the counter this time.

After the excursion, we headed back to the boat to change clothes and get ready for dinner. Our dinner mates were the same gentlemen from the night before (and yes we are still trying to figure out if they are gay or not, we can’t decide). Dinner was once again amazing. Started out with cold melon soup in a shot glass, vegetables and salmon, then scallops (which were awesome), my main course was the John Dory, which was great and Kim had braised beef with spinach risotto, she said it was wonderful (I’ll take her word for it). Dessert came….kim had saybone and I had, well I really have no idea. Once again they served wine and more wine from that days port. I’m loving it, but Kim says she still not liking it but it’s not stopping her from drinking four glasses of it!

After dinner, we all wanted to go out and tour Avignon and hopefully find a pub somewhere. Unfortunately it started to pour down the rain, and for people like us who have no idea what we are doing we decided it would be better just to stay put. So we headed to the lounge where this night they had live gypsy music going on. All I can say it was very interesting, but I did actually dance, Kim of course, did not.

Finally, a short idiocy list for you…

-3 full days on the boat, Kim had decided to forgo the use of the lock on the door

-Nicole fell twice on the curb two different times yesterday in Roussillon (and no she wasn’t drinking)

- when you use the ATM in france, make sure you just stick your card in and follow the instructions and do it fast because you only have 15 seconds to do it, kim timed herself out of it the first time

- we have to keep reminding ourselves when someone comes up to us and says “bonjour” we need to quit saying “HEY!!” and just say bonjour back…for some reason we can’t get this in our head.

We are in Vivier today, did a walking tour which we’ll tell you about in the next post.

By the way, if you want to know something we are not saying in here, just go to the comment section at the bottom of this post and ask. We do read them.

Stay tuned more later….
Nicole & Kim

P.S. Hey Mom…we left the group AGAIN and still no sex trade!

P.S.S. Jordan, here’s your shout out, tell Pete Wentz that your mother loves him!
